Bill Riley

Sculptor/Woodworker

Brought to San Diego by the U.S. Navy, Bill has been at the coast ever since. Living happily in Ocean Beach, CA, the beach lifestyle is a primary influence in Bill’s series of surf sculpture: iconic surfers on period boards, as well as Tiki art. In addition, he has experimented with various sculptural forms, human, feline, and architectural, in often daring applications. He creates busts, torsos, and bas-reliefs as well as planters in many exciting shapes and finishes. He is available for custom commissions and can hand build from photographs, live models, and sketches that can then be executed in ceramic or wood.

In addition to creating art for art’s sake, I also incorporate my creativity and fine craftsmanship into the home repair and restoration business I share with my wife and partner Candy.  Building custom garden furniture, gates, and arbors, I am a versatile artist/craftsman and love a challenge!

My artwork is currently on display at the Surfindian Gallery in Pacific Beach, CA, the California Surf Museum in Oceanside, CA, Chicweed Gallery on South Cedros in Solana Beach, and in private and international collections.
