Dave Ness was awarded a third place ribbon for his piece "Resting Giants" at the Gallery 4311 at the San Diego Hospice. The showing was of roughly fifteen artists and hundreds of pieces for the months of September and October.

Several PLAA members participated as vendors in Little Italy's annual Art Walk sponsored by Mission Federal: Dave Ness, Greg Bowerman, Jane Riles Pt. Loma Utility Box Project
Several PLAA members have responded to a request from the Pt. Loma Association to paint utility boxes that represent vital Pt. Loma organizations. Georgia Hoopes is collaborating with the Kiwanis Club, Julie Anderson with Rotary, and Bev Brady with the Pt. Loma Assoc. When the artwork is complete, we will announce the locations.
At Gallery 21 in Balboa Park's Spanish Village Art Center, there is a Small Image Show from Jan. 28-Feb. 21. Lynn's piece, which is called Green Carved Vase, was juried in to the show and has won 3rd place in the 12 inch category. Congratulations, Lynn! Lynn will be participating in the Empty Bowls project on May 7 to benefit Third Avenue Charitable Organization (T.A.C.O.) which aids the homeless and the elderly in San Diego. San Diego Natural History Museum's Best of Nature Show A photograph by PLAA member Pat Flanigan has been juried into this prestigious exhibit. The exhibit will be at the museum from Nov. 13 - January 30, 2011.
The Painter's Perspective at Spanish Village, Balboa Park
The Painter's Perspective,a showcase of paintings by a group of artists who meet under the direction of Linda Doll, is currently on display in Gallery 21 in Balboa Park's Spanish Village. The show includes paintings by Suzanne Stofer and Julie Anderson, which depict creative solutions to challenges given. The exhibit runs from July 21 to August 7 from 10 am to 4 pm daily.
Art Gallery at Gary Gilmore Goldsmith Jewelry Store
Dave Ness has
been invited to display his work for sale on the walls of Gary
Gilmore's well-known GOLDSMITH shop on Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach.
As of July 2010, the Gilmores have made space for eighteen of Dave's gorgeous
fine art landscape images. Two sold the first day, and that's not surprising because this is a fabulous exhibit.

San Diego Sculptors' Guild - September 2010
Bill Riley will be the Featured Artist at the San Diego Sculptors' Guild located at Studio of Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park. A reception will take place Sunday, September 19, 5 - 8 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy his work. There will be refreshments too.

Future Exhibit at San Diego Hospice and Institute of Palliative Medicine - Fall 2011
One of only six artists recently chosen for next year, Dave Ness will have a solo show of his fine art landscape photography during September and October 2011. A percentage of the proceeds from sales goes to SDHIPM.
San Diego County Fair 2010
Pat Flanigan's three entries were accepted for the fair's annual photography exhibit. Pat won a 2nd place ribbon and cash award in the Nature (color) category for a photo posted on this website. It was taken in Africa and shows baboons being scared off by an elephant emerging from the bush. Pat also won an honorable mention for a photo about present day tomato farming in Cuba.
San Diego Watercolor Society
On October 1, 2010, Roberta Dyer became President of this active organization of over 700 artists worldwide. She took over from the previous President, PLAA member Julie Anderson.
Besides offering juried art exhibits and workshops open to the public for children and adults, there is a monthly First Friday reception from 5 - 8 pm. SDWC is located in the NTC Promenade in Pt. Loma's Liberty Station, open Wednesday - Sunday, 10 - 4. www.sdws.org
Mission Federal Annual ArtWalk June 2010
Jane Riles and Dave Ness participated in the 2010 Mission Federal Art Walk in "Little Italy." At least 120,000 people visited the two day event.
"I shared a booth with some of my students and all of the work was very well received," commented Jane Riles. Jane is an experienced painter and teacher who has won many awards and exhibited her work in countless shows, including a solo exhibition at the San Diego Art Institute.
"My booth was packed and much of the time people were standing outside
waiting to get in," says Dave Ness, a fine art landscape
photographer. He displayed most of his images printed on canvas
and stretched "gallery wrap" style - ready for immediate hanging.

Three PLAA members were juried into this show at Spanish Village Art Center, Balboa Park. Lorraine Klotz, Bill Riley and Lynn Render have their work on display. Gallery 21 is open seven days a week from 11 am - 4 pm.
